THE TAO OF RAINISM

What is it about Rain that continues to fascinate us?

Is it the “chicken breasts” without vegetables (sorry, can’t let it die), his “Magic Feet,” Pinky, ESL student and now chocolate? Is it that even though he does not seem to make any sensible moves in his career (breaking away from JYP, creating a clothing line, speaking incoherent English, unsuccessful attempt into Hollywood) that we still want to know more?

So what does ‘Rainism’ mean exactly?

Putting all his modesty aside, Rain believes that his new album titled, “Rainism” will take over Korean pop culture. The “ism” of Rainism refers to “ideology,” and Rain wants us to believe that he’s the “chosen one” to lead us all into k-pop enlightenment. Since when did he get such a big head? Well, we suspect that being chosen as Time Magazine’s most influential person in the world, twice in a row, has something to do with it…

However, with all his attempts, none has panned out so far…. maybe now is his chance to be a “Ba-ba-ba bad boy” with Rainism?

Check out his newest teaser, “Bad Boy” from his 5th album “Rainism.” Looks like the MW was shot in Bangkok at the Bed Supper Club.

rain gets beat up again

After getting his ear pulled in the 1st teaser, Rain undergoes more abuse in Part II of the teaser. This time, the love interest, Ha Ji-won steps it up a notch with a full on face slap.  What can we expect next? - Ha Ji-won poking out Rain’s eyes with a spoon? hitting him with a frying pan? running him over with the car?

As for the title “love story,” I don’t see the connection. Love does not mean pulling ears and slapping. Or does it?

Rain’s “Rainism” is the rainiest rainy rain: New album pictures

i have no idea what “Rainism” means but the term probably has nothing to do with “controlling my mind of chicken breasts and vegetables.” However, if I were to guesstimate, then “Rainism” refers to the half-naked, hunkier and modern version of the 70’s disco group, Village People (above). Or it refers to Rain looking like Tom Cruise in the 80’s hit movies Top Gun and Cocktail (below). Or maybe I am getting blinded by staring at the computer all day and thinking/wishing that Rain would be Tom Cruise or singing YMCA?

Rain’s 5th album, “Rainism” will be out shortly but not before the full-fledged barrage of promos- first the comeback showcase at MBC Dream Concert on October 9th, then a television special on MBC called appropriately, “It’s Raining” on October 10th and then a week later, another comeback showcase called, “Me Rain Dance” on October 17th. And let’s not forget the 2nd teaser MV that will released on October 8th.

Dang, don’t I sound like a crazy fan?

The chicken breasts without the vegetables did it.

Oh goodness… it’s going to “Rain”

Magic Feet is back!

Not that the news of Rain’s return to the k-pop scene is anything new, but its officially official with the release of his new teaser video, entitled, “Love Story”. Ha Ji-Won also stars in the music video.

This will be his first album under his new company J Tune Entertainment. Magic Feet is actually using his brain for once.  He has cleaned up very nicely by getting rid of the ajumma hair style. However, with younger rivals such as DBSK and Big Bang behind his back,  he’ll have to keep on his toes to even think of competing with them. I guess coming back to Korea and speaking his native tongue has helped him regain some of his brain cells.

Our Magic Feet has a busy schedule coming up as well, with his new special debuting on the 10th, on M.Net Countdown on the 16th, and performing at the Lotte Family Concert 2 days later…it seems we are going to be seeing much more of the shrimp-eyed wonder.

In the end of the teaser, somehow once again Rain ends up bloody. Oh well, rather this then those nasty pictures from Ninja Assassin floating around the internet.

More pictures and a longer teaser will be released October 2, 2008 but check out what has been released
