SBS bans Rain

One of the 3 largest broadcasters in Korea, SBS, has announced that Rain’s fresh track, “You” will be banned from television.

SBS deemed the song as inappropriate due to the suggestive lyrics:

I am stuck in your lumps
hide your rump, because of you I need to take a dump
Wet my body so I can feel it whenever
Your sexy lips are touching me all over

Ok. If you have read this far, you are probably thinking, “WTH”? “because of you I need to take a dump.” Well, that’s not Rain’s line, it’s ours. We just had to add it in because it rhymed with “lump” and “rump.”

Hee hee. Here is the real translation:

I am stuck in your lumps
hide your rump,

because of you, I am going crazy
Wet my body so I can feel it whenever
Your sexy lips are touching me all over
The original:
“너의 그 볼륨에 내가 꽂혀 있어” “엉덩이를 감춰 너 때문에 정말 내가 미쳐” “내 몸을 적셔 언제나 내가 느껴지게” “섹시한 네 입술이 날 만지고 있어”

Well, we know that SBS has a track record of not making smart moves. So by banning Rain’s song from television will only create more hype for Rain and his new album. Duh.

Rain covers Esquire

Rain is the first cover model to be featured on 2 big magazine covers in Korea- Esquire and Harpers Bazaar for November 2008. Generally, these magazines slap on foreign top models, but now they have gone overboard with 2 covers with domestic bred Rain. Unfortunately for Rain, the magazine thinks it’s “Beginning to Rain all over the world” as opposed to him already ruling the world with his “rainisms.”

Drama, “Full House” returns to small screen

The hit drama, ‘Full House’ is expected to return to the small screen with “Full House, Season 2” since it aired in 2004.

The sequel will be taped in various locations around Asia as well as include Chinese and Japanese actors to make the drama a truly Asian one. As for the main cast, there is no word yet on whether Rain or Song Hye-kyo from the original will join the sequel. However, the producers would prefer to have at least one of the main actors as part of the cast in Season 2.

Already, rumor has it that 20 episodes have been written. “Full House, Season 2″ is expected to air in August 2009.

Rain is flying high

But he’s no Michael Jackson or Usher.

Wearing a scarf around his waist, Rain performed his comeback stage fully clothed on Mnet Countdown on October 23rd.

Top 5 Rainisms

With his comeback album, “rainism” and his attempt to take over the world with it, you need to understand the man. To do that, you first need to understand his language. POPSEOUL! has picked the top 5, “Rainisms” to get inside the mind and menu of the so-called “world star,” Rain.

5th: “Finally, I make it”

How cute is that? -not. Sounds like something a five year old child would say, but a grown man said it on his comeback special on MBC in October 2008.

4th: “you know”

Rain used “you know” at every opportunity during his English interviews at Comic con in the summer, you know. You know that he must have been really nervous, you know, but that’s not an excuse, you know to speak in “you knows.”

An excerpt from the Latinoreview.com interview in response to training for his role in Ninja Assassin:

You know every time you know every day I throw up. [LAUGHS] It was really hard. You know it almost killed me

3rd: “Magic Feet”

In our phone interview with Rain this summer (sorry the interview is no longer available), the singer himself told us to call him: “magic feet.” So now we know the extend of his creativity- from “magic feet” to “magic stick” (see below)

2nd: “magic stick” or pronounced by Rain as “majesty”

So we know Rain is desperate to settle down. For goodness sakes, the man referred to his 2 swords in the promo movie poster for Ninja Assassin as his “2 girlfriends.” And he recently confessed he is going to get married next year (more on that later). So now we know what he wants to do with “Magic stick? Too much information.

“Magic stick” is part of the creative lyrics written by Rain for his latest song, “Bad Boy.”

And finally…drum roll please…..

1st: “controlling my mind and menus with chicken breast and vegetables…”

This is easily best line of 2008. The pop star used the memorized phrase a few times in his English interviews at Comic com in San Diego at the end of July 2008 (and we have used it relentlessly on POPSEOUL!). Best. Line. Ever.

Just in case you missed it, check it out the interviews for movieweb.com, Latinoreview.com and here.

Rain has a magic stick that makes your body shake

And that’s certainly not another name for his feet.

From “Magic Feet” to “Magic stick” - Rain again demonstrates his colorful command of the English language with the use of the unsubtle term, “magic stick” in the lyrics that he wrote for his latest track, “Bad Boy.”

My magic stick is spinning in your shivering body. You can’t go beyond my body shake. Make it Rainism The Rainism. Feel my body.”

떨리는 니 몸 안을 돌고 있는 나의 MAGIC STICK/ 더 이상 넘어갈 수 없는 한곌 느낀 BODY SHAKE/ MAKE IT RANISM THE RANISM 내 몸을 느껴 버렸어

The Korean media is divided over the use of sexually explicit lyrics. One side insists that the lyrics were intended for the international market, so it’s ok. The other side argue that the reference to his “magic stick” are not appropriate for Korean audiences.

But we have known for a while that our little Magic Feet  has been desperate-the difference is that he’s just admitted it.
